The Quatrain City Poetry Contest

Sponsored by JackHuber.com

Twice monthly, a photo has been posted on the Ryze forum, "Wordmeisters, Poets and Writers Unite!"  Members then composed quatrains, or 4-line poems, inspired by the photographs.  Quatrains have been judged on creativity, poignancy, format (if applicable) and content. A most interesting take on a photo may also have scored well.

This will culminate in a Grand Prize contest in which all winners and runners-up will automatically be entered.

Contest rules are posted in the forum.

The current winners are posted below.  For prior winning entries, choose from the menu on the left.

Contest #17-  November 17, 2010

Winner:

Maya Mahant

The Train

The train of memory chugs down the rails,
a journey through life's hills and dales.
Azure sky, the autumn of life draws close,
and dark clouds make for a sunset grandiose

Runner-up:

Mari Laura Skjelvik

Like Trains

Steaming forward, into the unknown,
children's innocent trust,
forward, onward into future,
we step back and remember our tracks.
