The Quatrain City Poetry Contest

Sponsored by JackHuber.com

Twice monthly, a photo is posted on the Ryze forum, "Wordmeisters, Poets and Writers Unite!"  Members then compose a quatrain, or 4-line poem, inspired by the photograph.  Quatrains are judged on creativity, poignancy, format (if applicable) and content. A most interesting take on the photo will also score well.

This will culminate in a Grand Prize contest in which all winners and runners-up will automatically be entered.

Only members of this Ryze group may enter, but it is free to join.   Contest rules are posted in the forum.  This is a wonderful group; please consider joining in the fun!

The current winners are posted below.  For prior winning entries, choose from the menu on the left.

Contest #8-  July 7, 2010

Winner:

Pushpa Moorjani

Come Back Soon

Since nineteen eleven, behind mosaic so bright
await I, with bouquet of fruits and flowers by my side,
come back soon while the flame still burns hot,
love in abundance craves for its first speck of light.

Runner-up:

Ayub Bangroo

Forbidden Fruit

Restriction within paradise does not suit
where everything is in abundance;
better not tell me about forbidden fruit
lest I fall to splendid ignorance.
