Pat Ruger Mystery Series- Book 5
A terrible poet. A brutal murder. An international conspiracy that reaches far beyond anything Pat Ruger expected.
Retired Denver homicide detective Pat Ruger has encountered plenty of unusual characters during his investigative career. But Christopher Choo, an aspiring poet whose performance leaves much to be desired, hardly seems like someone destined to become the center of a murder investigation.
Then Choo turns up dead.
When Pat learns that someone paid an astonishing $10,000 to secure Choo's appearance at a Denver poetry reading, what initially seemed like a senseless killing becomes a mystery with troubling implications. Who wanted Choo there badly enough to pay that kind of money? And why?
Pat's search for answers introduces him to a mysterious Korean businessman whose explanations raise more questions than they answer. Following a trail of suspicious connections, Pat travels to Seattle, where a seemingly straightforward homicide investigation begins to unravel into something far more dangerous.
Stolen cultural treasures, shadowy intelligence operatives, and an international criminal network complicate every step of the investigation. And when someone close to Pat disappears, the case becomes a desperate race to uncover the truth before another life is lost.
Along the way, Pat must confront not only the people determined to keep their secrets buried, but also the personal cost of a lifetime spent pursuing justice.
Blending murder mystery, action, international intrigue, and Pat Ruger's trademark dry humor, Seattle Reign takes readers from the familiar streets of Colorado to the rain-soaked waterfront of the Pacific Northwest, where appearances are deceptive, loyalties are uncertain, and even the worst poetry can conceal a deadly secret.
Book 5 in the Pat Ruger Mystery Series, Seattle Reign continues the adventures of a detective who may be retired from the police force—but hasn't quite learned how to stay out of trouble.
