One of the unusual qualities of a sunrise when seen from a mountaintop is when the layers of air make striations, or stripes, across the solar sphere. That was definitely true with this shot, taken from the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. I especially like the reflection of the sun in the harbor below.
I shared the summit with hundreds of other park visitors that fall morning, so if you plan to get a sunrise picture there, plan to arrive to the mountain park early and bring your walking or hiking shoes.
